Greetings Heritage-Mesa Faculty,
As we approach the end of the semester, I would like to update you on some role changes that will occur on the Mesa campus beginning January 2018.
Ms. Stephanie Garrett will be leaving us mid-Spring semester. Stephanie announced that she is expecting her first baby and after delivery she plans to spend time with her family. Stephanie has been a vital contributor to our mathematics program in teaching Geometry and we are sincerely grateful for her service. She will be greatly missed. We are pleased for Stephanie and wish her the very best in her new adventures.
Scholar academic achievement is critical to Heritage’s mission and success. With this in mind, we have asked two of our faculty members to focus their full efforts on our mathematics program.
Mr. Colton Reese will be teaching Geometry. Previously Colton taught half of the Algebra I classes. We are confident in his abilities to succeed Ms. Garrett in providing top quality Geometry education for our scholars.
Mr. Darren Passey will assume a full load of Algebra I classes. Recently, Darren supported the Mesa campus serving as our Athletic Director. We are truly grateful to him for his efforts and we thank him for his service. Mr. Passey is a highly successful and respected mathematics teacher at Heritage and we value his contribution to our programs.
Mr. Spencer Bowers will joining the Mesa campus and will serve as the interim Athletic Director during Spring Semester. Mr. Bowers will conclude his service as principal of the Gateway campus at the end of the Fall 2017 Semester, then transition to the Mesa campus January 1, 2018. Prior to serving as principal at the Gateway campus, Spencer was actively involved in academics and athletics on the Mesa campus. He has a successful track record in Heritage athletics and we are confident that his skills will positively impact the Mesa scholars and athletes. He will continue to teach Dual-Enrollment Spanish at the Gateway campus.
Mr. Wade Melchin will continue to serve as Assistant Principal. He will also be assisting the Gateway campus for Spring Semester. Mr. Melchin will support academic activities and coordinate campus expansion activities. He will also support the Gateway Campus scholars and Ms. Kathleen Lopez, who will be serving as Interim Principal for Spring Semester.
We changed several positions and schedules for second semester. We are done making changes for next semester. We appreciate your patience and support while we undergo this transition. We are looking forward to the New Year and ask for your support of these individuals as they enter their new roles in Spring Semester. Thank you.
