During a staff meeting this past Friday, Mr. Earl Taylor, founder and Principal of Heritage Academy, announced his retirement as Principal and teacher at the Mesa campus after 22 years of service to the school. As a first year charter operator, Mr. Taylor helped pioneer the charter school industry in Arizona receiving the fourth charter in 1994.

We cannot express enough how much we will miss him and appreciate all that he has done for the scholars and teachers at Heritage Academy over the past 22 years. His influence will always be felt here. We wish him the best on his next adventure!

Mr. Taylor will continue as President of the governing board and charter holder for the Mesa campus.

Dr. Travis Moore was also announced as the next Principal of Heritage Academy Mesa campus, beginning this upcoming school year, 2017-2018. Dr. Moore has taught mathematics at Heritage Academy for the past 6 years and has also taught at Mesa Community College and Chandler Gilbert Community College as adjunct faculty.

Dr. Moore earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of Southern California. He holds a doctoral degree in education from University of Phoenix.

In his free time, Dr. Moore enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys, as well as golfing and surfing.
