Welcome to Heritage Academy Mesa.

Serving grades 7-12

The Heritage Difference:

As a parent, you worry about a lot of things, especially when it comes to your kids going to a big junior high or high school. Will they have friends? Will they make good grades? Will they have good teachers? Will they have opportunities? Will they be bullied? Will others care or take the time to see them like you already see them? A child who, given the right support is on the verge of discovering their future potential. You want them to feel valued and to excel academically and socially. You want them to be challenged and to build character that will propel them into a brighter future. Simply, you want them to be happy.

Unfortunately, most high schools promise school spirit and pep rallies, but when the Friday night lights dim, kids face the reality that they are just another student in a sea of students who worry more about getting through a day without bullies, drugs, bad language, disrespect and peer pressure than grades. It’s understandable that learning takes a back seat when teachers and principals have to spend more time with discipline issues rather than with helping families. Despite all of these problems, you may be more disposed to suffer this reality believing there isn’t another way.

However, there is a better way. Heritage Academy, a tuition-free school, is one of the first charter schools in Arizona and provides a safe environment across all of our campuses in Mesa, Queen Creek, Laveen, Maricopa and Phoenix. Heritage is a school where your child will receive individual and well-rounded instruction to flourish academically and emotionally. That’s because Heritage Academy first instills into the minds and hearts of today’s youth the enduring values and principles taught by America’s Founding Fathers and Mothers like liberty and freedom that foster respect, hard work, honesty, personal responsibility, friendship, hope and courage. This foundation coupled with the more intimate setting of a smaller campus and class sizes create a special place where your child will be among friends who are kind, teachers who can and want to give them personal attention and a principal and staff that listens to your needs and works with you.

Heritage’s unique set-up provides scholars so much opportunity. The A/B block schedule Monday through Thursday enables your child to take 8 classes per semester so they can take more core academic as well as extracurricular classes. Nowhere else will scholars have so much opportunity to participate, be engaged, and develop into future leaders. And, because the environment caters to more learning and academic rigor, our scholars have some of the highest test scores and college acceptances in the state. All this while having no school on Fridays!

At Heritage, you are more than a student. You become a scholar, a leaders, a hero who is ready to stand tall and step into a brighter future that you’ve chosen with the help of our entire educational family who not only sees your potential but has the desire to help you reach it.

Our History

Founded in 1995, Heritage Academy was the 4th Charter granted in the state of Arizona. Since then, we have grown to be an established, successful and safe school where academics & character development are the highest priority. We’ve been serving scholars in 7th – 12th grades for 27 years in Mesa, plus 6th grade for a few years at Maricopa, Laveen and Gateway JH/HS and have recently added grades K-5 to create the Heritage Academy Elementary at Gateway campus. We love what we do!

Our Mission Statement

Heritage Academy is dedicated to youth, their growth and development. The purpose of education is to build strong character. Strong character is reflected in strong families, strong communities and a strong nation.

While teaching the academic disciplines, Heritage Academy is dedicated to instilling into the minds and hearts of today’s youth a knowledge of and respect for the ideals and values of the great men and women of history, including those who founded the American nation.

As today’s rising generation gains an appreciation of these people of accomplishment, they will be ready to provide the selfless service to their fellow citizens and to their country which will be required in the coming years to assist in preserving America’s greatness. Heritage Academy exists to this end.

Goals

Heritage Academy maintains a clean, moral, positive atmosphere where scholars can feel safe in the environment – safe from physical harm, from addicting substances, and from damaging gossip and stereotyping.

Heritage Academy teaches the mastery of primary and secondary skills in the fields of history, math, writing, literature, reading, science, music, foreign language, visual art, performing arts, and physical development.

Heritage Academy teaches scholars about the lives, beliefs and accomplishments of the heroes of America – our founding fathers and mothers – and to better understand the values and principles which governed their lives and upon which they built the American nation. Scholars should be able to relate the trials, struggles, accomplishments and setbacks of these great people to their personal lives, building hope, desire, and determination.

Heritage Academy is known as a school of excellence where all scholars and parents honestly say that the time spent at Heritage has been the best schooling experience of their lives.

Heritage Academy serves grades 7-12 in Mesa, grades 6-12 at Laveen and Maricopa, and grades K-12 at our Gateway campus.
